Inva Mula was born in Tirana, Albania. Inva’s parents recognized her musical talent at an early age and encouraged her to study the piano and train her voice; she took singing lessons from her mother from the age of sixteen.
The young singer later graduated from the Tirana Academy of Arts and took her examination in the role of Violetta (La Traviata). This part gave her an open door to the Théâtre de l’Opéra in Tirana, where her engagement as soloist lasted a full five years. While there, she sang Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Leila in Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Mimi in La Bohème, Gilda in Rigoletto and numerous parts by Albanian opera composers.
After her success in several international competitions, Inva Mula embarked on her international career, which has taken her to the world’s leading stages: the Arena di Verona, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Liceu in Barcelona, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Paris Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Paris’s Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Vienna Staatsoper, and to Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Toulouse and Las Palmas.
In November 2012 she sang at the centenary concert to mark 100 years of Albanian independence and received from the President of the Republic the country’s honorific title “Nderi i Kombit”.
In recognition of her outstanding artistic achievements, Inva Mula was awarded the title “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” by the Government of France in 2005.
