June 16 is the International Family Remittance Day. Remittances represent the income that migrants send to their homeland for their families. This date is also an honor to the efforts of hundreds of thousands of Albanian migrants, who with their income, provide a better future for their families in Albania.

Appreciating this contribution, the good management of remittances for the benefit of families and the country, as well as the formalization of the channels for sending them home, are among the main objectives of the National Diaspora Strategy. To increase the Diaspora’s contribution to improving Albania’s welfare and development, the Strategy promotes the implementation of best practices and a favorable environment for increasing the role of remittances in sustainable economic development.
