Today, we held the first meeting of the Governing Council of the National Diaspora Agency. The Governing Council, which consists of representatives from the State Minister for Diaspora and some other ministries, serves as the decision-making body for the administrative and financial matters of the Agency.

At the beginning of the meeting, with the proposal of the State Minister for Diaspora, Mr. Etjen Xhafaj, Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs was elected as the Chairman of the Council.

The Executive Director of the Agency, Mr. Dritan Delija, gave a presentation of the following documents: the structure of the Agency, the internal regulation, a draft of the Budget, as well as the bulletin of the Action Plan (September 2018). Following an extensive discussion, the Governing Council approved the aforementioned documents of the Agency.

In addition to these documents, the members of the Council discussed some of the future activities of the Agency, focusing on strengthening the agency’s role in coordinating and cooperating with other institutions in Albania, other institutions in Kosovo, as well as organizations and representatives of the Albanian Diaspora for the implementation of the National Diaspora Strategy.
