Mission and Responsibilities

To represent and promote policies of cooperation and interaction with all Albanians, encouraging and strengthening cooperation in all fields with Albanians outside the borders of the Republic of Albania and the countries where they reside.

The National Diaspora Agency has the mission to develop and deepen institutional cooperation with the diaspora, through:

1. Improving the position of diaspora members, as well as protecting their rights and interests in the countries where they live;

2. Providing assistance for the preservation of national cultural heritage;

3. Promoting economic cooperation between the country of origin and the diaspora;

4. Cooperating for the prosperity of the entire nation, peace, well-being, culture and social solidarity.

Agency Responsibilities:

1. Takes measures to create the unique diaspora database, based on the free will of the person. Storage and processing of personal data is done in accordance with the legislation in force for the protection of personal data.

2. Implements policies and projects related to the diaspora.

3. Prepares periodic reports on the Agency’s activities, which are submitted for approval to the minister responsible for diaspora.

4. Prepares and coordinates work for drafting and reviewing the National Strategy for Diaspora and monitors its implementation.

5. Maintains links between the diaspora, its representatives and the country of origin.

6. Responsible for the operation and financial management of the Agency.

7. Cooperates and coordinates activities with state institutions, civil society and organizations inside and outside the country, to improve the position of the diaspora in the world.

8. Assists in preserving and developing the language, national and cultural values of the diaspora.

9. Informs the diaspora about political processes in the country of origin, with the aim of including them in the political, economic and cultural life of the Republic of Albania.

10. Manages the assets at its disposal.
