Joseph Dedvukaj is an Albanian American lawyer with his own practice based in Michigan, which he established in 1994. Dedvukaj cites his wonderful and supportive family as a big reason for his accomplishments. He speaks proudly of his origins and heritage. His parents made their way from Malësia, a region in the Northern Albanian Alps. Dedvukaj states that his family is his backbone of his success, and they work hard together and celebrate their achievements together.
Dedvukaj is very involved and connected to his own roots, and advises that other Albanian Americans must also find their personal heroes. In addition to his professional endeavors, Dedvukaj enjoys participating in philanthropic and cultural events. He has participated in activities that established and strengthened the Albanian cultural infrastructure in the United States. He attends traditional and folklore activities, and is frequently invited to chair or guest speak at various national events. In 1995, he became a parish council member at Saint Paul’s Albanian Catholic Parish. He sat on the finance and building committees until 2002, when the largest Albanian religious and cultural institution in the United States was completed.
In addition, Dedvukaj contributed financially to the 1999 Kosova crisis to support the Albanian cause for autonomy. Over the past years, he has devoted a considerable amount of time and resources to shed light on the importance of the rights of Albanians living in Montenegro.
