As part of strengthening institutional cooperation in support of Albanian youth and the diaspora, Ms. Ermonela Xhafa, Executive Director of the National Agency of Diaspora (NAD), held a meeting with Mr. Dashnor Veizaj, Chairman of the National Youth Council (NYC), focusing on enhancing institutional collaboration and strengthening the role of young people in matters related to the Albanian diaspora.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the importance of bringing younger generations closer to the diaspora, preserving national identity, and building bridges of cooperation among Albanians living both within and outside the country.
The discussions also centered on the findings and agreements reached during the Fourth Diaspora Summit, where a cooperation agreement was signed between the National Agency of Diaspora (NAD) and the National Youth Agency (NYA), with the aim of actively involving young people from the diaspora in national policies and activities.
It was emphasized that youth and the diaspora should not be viewed as realities separate from Albania, but rather as integral parts of the country’s development. Ms. Xhafa highlighted the importance of institutional support for youth activities in the diaspora and the strengthening of the institution–diaspora–homeland connection.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dashnor Veizaj, Chairman of the National Youth Council, underlined the fact that, for the first time, the diaspora is represented within the National Youth Council. He further stressed that, in light of the recommendations and responsibilities arising from the Fourth Diaspora Summit, cooperation among NAD, NYA, and NYC can foster joint activities and concrete programs for young Albanians in the diaspora through talent development, funding opportunities for activities, and representation at international levels.
Promoting young people in the diaspora and designing concrete support programs for them will be a key focus of this institutional cooperation. The collaboration between the two agencies and the National Youth Council is considered an important step toward advancing initiatives and developing concrete projects for young Albanians, wherever they live and contribute.
