As part of the finalization of the drafting process of the National Diaspora Strategy 2026–2030, the Action Plan, and the Indicator Framework, a meeting with Donors and International Partners was held today at the premises of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
The meeting brought together representatives of partner organizations and international institutions involved in the process to present the strategic priorities and measures envisaged for the 2026–2030 period, as well as to discuss opportunities for cooperation and support for their implementation.
During the discussions, participants acknowledged the work carried out to date and emphasized the need for a more strategic and targeted approach to harnessing the outstanding potential of the Albanian diaspora. This approach should be supported by strong institutional coordination, measurable objectives, and effective monitoring mechanisms, with a focus on engaging the diaspora in the country’s economic and social development, facilitating the circulation of knowledge and expertise, promoting investment, preserving national identity, and strengthening the role of youth.
The discussions focused on priority measures aimed at enhancing the engagement of the Albanian diaspora through the establishment of contact points and digital platforms, the creation of an integrated online portal for the Albanian diaspora and diaspora experts, the development of professional exchange programmes, the transfer of knowledge, and the mobilization of Albanian human capital abroad.
Particular attention was also given to strengthening local government structures for diaspora engagement, improving consultation and participation mechanisms, implementing information campaigns on migration, and facilitating access to information and citizenship-related services, including support for Arbëresh communities.
We extend our gratitude to all partner international organizations and participating institutions for their valuable contribution and commitment.
A special thank you goes to IOM Albania and GIZ Albania for their continuous professional support and their invaluable contribution throughout the entire process.
