Proposed by the State Minister for Diaspora, the Council of Ministers approved Decision no. 419, dated 27/05/2020 “On the approval of the state program for supporting the empowerment and engagement of the Albanian diaspora”.

The program aims to expand socio-economic opportunities and prospects for women and men in Albania, as well as improve their livelihoods by increasing the level of engagement of the Albanian Diaspora.

The implementation of the program will be achieved through the cooperation of the State Minister for Diaspora with government institutions of various levels in order to develop instruments to actively engage with members and organizations of the Diaspora.

Municipalities will also harmonize development strategies with the Albanian Diaspora Strategy, provide better and more numerous services to diaspora members, and foster community initiatives to attract diaspora knowledge and investment.

Through the transfer of knowledge and skills from diaspora partners, it will be possible to increase joint investments with the private sector in Albania, thus creating new jobs.
This state program will take into account all important factors and will implement measures to ensure the independent engagement of all members of the Diaspora.
