As part of her working visit to Athens, the Executive Director of the National Agency for Diaspora (NAD), Ms. Ermonela Xhafa, held a meeting with representatives of Albanian businesses in Greece, representatives of Albanian associations, as well as members of the Diaspora Coordinating Council representing the Albanian diaspora in Greece.
The meeting with representatives of the Association of Albanian Language Teachers in Greece was held at the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Athens, which has become an open door for the Albanian community in Greece and a space for cooperation and communication with the Albanian diaspora.
The meeting focused on institutional support for Albanian-language schools in the diaspora, which remain among the key priorities of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ferit Hoxha, as well as of the National Agency for Diaspora. This commitment was also reaffirmed during the 4th Diaspora Summit, where the importance of strengthening Albanian-language education and preserving national identity among younger generations was reiterated.
During the meeting, the concrete needs of Albanian schools and teachers in Greece were discussed, as well as the forms of support that the National Agency for Diaspora will continue to provide through the provision of Albanian-language books, teaching materials, and technological equipment for school libraries, helping facilitate the teaching and learning process.
The importance of close cooperation among the National Agency for Diaspora, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Athens, and representatives of Albanian-language teachers was also emphasized, with the aim of ensuring sustainable support for the network of Albanian-language schools in Greece.
During the meeting with representatives of Albanian businesses and Albanian associations in Greece, opportunities for strengthening cooperation and developing joint activities and projects were discussed, with the aim of increasing the involvement and contribution of Albanian entrepreneurs in Greece in initiatives of mutual interest, as well as creating new bridges of economic, social, and cultural cooperation between the diaspora and Albania.
The National Agency for Diaspora will continue to be a close partner of the diaspora by supporting Albanian-language schools, projects, and initiatives that strengthen ties with Albania, as well as sustainable cooperation between Albanian communities and state institutions.
