Today, we held an impressive meeting with distinguished representatives of the Arbëresh community, who stood out at the 4th Diaspora Summit, once again demonstrating that they keep the Arbëresh spirit, language, and traditions alive with admirable dedication.

The presence of Arbëresh representatives Paola Napolitano and Daniele Marchese from San Benedetto Ullano, Rosa Carbone and Irene Golemmo from Lungro, as well as the discussions held in Albanian (the Arbëresh sub-dialect), gave the meeting a direct and engaging atmosphere, bringing concrete examples of efforts to preserve the Arbëresh language and traditions within their respective communities.

Arbëresh communities, wherever they are, remain not only witnesses of a valuable heritage, but also active and irreplaceable partners in strengthening cultural and national ties.

They maintain a special connection with Albania, which they consider an important point of reference for their identity and culture. Moreover, they can be regarded as some of the earliest Albanians in the European Union, serving as a living bridge between Albania and Europe, proudly preserving the Albanian language, culture, and identity for nearly 600 years.

Their presence during these days of May is also linked to opportunities to participate in activities organized in Albanian territories in the framework of commemorating the birthday of Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, the symbol of national unity. By taking part in these events of national importance, they further strengthen the spiritual and cultural ties between the Arbëresh community and the Albanian lands.

The Executive Director of the National Agency of Diaspora, Ms. Xhafa, assured the Arbëresh guests of the Agency’s support, emphasizing that this commitment goes beyond words and becomes a shared mission to strengthen and advance a valuable heritage of nearly 600 years.

She added that in the coming months, efforts will be made to organize joint and inclusive activities, where Arbëresh communities and their associations, wherever they are located, will have the opportunity to meet, share experiences, and celebrate this precious heritage together.

The goal is simple: to keep this tradition alive, to preserve this beautiful bond of shared roots, and to pass it on with love to future generations.
