Today, the 15th Seminar of the Association of Albanian Teachers in Greece is taking place in Chania, Crete, under the theme: “Integrating Traditional Teaching of the Albanian Language with Digitalization: The Role of Technology in Increasing the Motivation of Children in the Diaspora.”
Teachers from Albanian-language schools across Greece are participating in this seminar. Also present are representatives of Albanian institutions and distinguished figures from the field of education, including the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ms. Klodiana Spahiu; the Ambassador of Albania to Athens, Ms. Luela Hajdaraga; the Executive Director of the National Diaspora Agency, Ms. Ermonela Xhafa; the member of the Diaspora Coordinating Council for Greece, Mr. Ermal Sulaj; as well as Professors Mr. Shezai Rrokaj and Dr. Besnik Rama.
The seminar aims to enhance the quality of teaching the Albanian language in the diaspora, modernize teaching practices through digital tools, and develop a contemporary approach that brings children closer to their mother tongue. The Association of Albanian Teachers in Greece carries out valuable work in preserving and promoting the Albanian language and culture in Greece, while strengthening the dedication and cooperation among the teachers who are members of the association.
In recent years, the Albanian state has undertaken significant steps in drafting and implementing educational policies for the diaspora, considering the teaching of the Albanian language abroad an integral part of public policy. Through harmonized curricula, textbooks, and professional training programs, efforts are being made to strengthen the connection of younger generations with their language and cultural heritage.
The attention, support, and presence of representatives of the Albanian state today reinforce the idea that preserving the Albanian language outside the homeland requires not only individual commitment but also strong institutional and professional coordination. In this process, cooperation with institutions responsible for diaspora affairs remains essential to ensuring continuity and sustained support for Albanian-language education in the diaspora.
This seminar demonstrates that preserving and developing the Albanian language in the diaspora is not merely an individual effort, but a shared institutional commitment.
The National Diaspora Agency, in fulfilling its mission, continues to cooperate with state institutions and diaspora organizations to support initiatives that contribute to strengthening the role of Albanian teachers and preserving the Albanian language in the diaspora.
In this way, institutional cooperation with the diaspora becomes a powerful driver in ensuring the continuity of cultural heritage and the linguistic and cultural identity of younger generations living outside the homeland.
