As part of the project “Training of Dancers from the Albanian Diaspora,” a group from the longstanding Albanian diaspora in Ukraine arrived in Albania to begin their cultural and artistic program.

They are members of the amateur dance ensemble “Iliria” and the Albanian Song and Dance Ensemble “Kolorit.”

They are Ukrainian citizens of Albanian descent, born and raised far from their homeland, yet they have never forgotten their roots. This special community demonstrates that Albanian identity is preserved, cultivated, and passed down from generation to generation with unconditional love, carrying a strong sense of belonging to the blood of their ancestors.

The visit began with exploring the ancient city of Durrës, where they visited the Venetian Tower and the Amphitheater, important monuments of Albanian historical heritage. During their stay in Durrës, the group also visited the Children’s Cultural Center, where they were welcomed by the director, Mr. Arian Plaku, and received information about the artistic and educational activities and the role of the center in cultivating the new generation.

The program continued with a stop in historic Krujë, where they visited the National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu,” as a special moment to connect with the roots, history, and national identity.

During their stay in Tirana, participants will undergo professional training in Albanian dances by artists and educators from the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, with the activity culminating in an artistic performance as part of the events dedicated to the National Diaspora Day.
